My understanding of ecosystems is informed by marine ecology and biological systems, practical experience with agriculture and regenerative farming, and decades working inside business and innovation networks.
Healthy systems depend on interdependence, adaptation, resource flows, and the conditions that allow individual participants to thrive.
In innovation, that means looking beyond a single founder or funding decision to the relationships, capabilities, and institutions that shape what becomes possible.

My doctoral research examines why some innovation ecosystems develop the capacity to mobilize resources and act more effectively than others—and what emerging ecosystems can do to close the gap. The work connects ecosystem development with confidence in information, the speed of investment-related decisions, and the ability to respond to opportunity.

A wider view of leadership, risk, and systems.
I grew up on a family farm with five siblings, goats, chickens, and a milk cow. Both of my parents were influential teachers. That environment gave me an early appreciation for stewardship, learning, practical problem-solving, and the way living systems depend on one another.
Before my business career, I was a drum major, a competitive springboard diver and university team captain, a professional high-diver, and a professional and competitive skydiver. Those experiences shaped my approach to leadership: preparation, sound judgment under uncertainty, trust in other people, and a clear understanding of the consequences of decisions.
Alongside my work in marine ecosystems, biotechnology, and innovation, practical experience with regenerative farming reinforces a perspective that runs through my work today: sustainable performance comes from understanding the whole system, not optimizing a single part in isolation.
These experiences are part of who I am. The central focus of this website remains the professional work they inform.
